TIP #1: Don’t be afraid to recharge your
Lithium-Ion battery whenever you’re finished working with the tool for the
day, especially if you anticipate that you’ll be doing a big job later on.
Unlike traditional Nickel-Cadmium cordless tool batteries which suffer from
“charging memory” problems (premature charging actually reduces the overall
amount of charge the battery will hold), you can’t hurt Lithium batteries by
“topping them up.” (It’s like filling your car’s partially empty gas tank in
preparation for a long drive.) Craftsman Diehard Lithium-Ion batteries
feature a handy “fuel gauge” that shows you instantly how much charge your
battery pack has left. |

TIP #2: Low temperatures can really zap the
performance of any battery-powered tool. If you’re working outdoors on a
really cold day, you’ll get more out
of your cordless power tool by keeping
its battery pack warm. You can do this by removing the battery from any tool
that’s not in use for more than a few minutes. Slip the pack into an inside
pocket of your jacket, or set it in a warm place, like the heated cab of your
truck or car. Put the pack back into the tool only when you’re ready to use
it again. |
